Quick and Easy Cauliflower Fried Rice Recipe
I have been buying organic frozen cauliflower rice lately. Frozen cauliflower rice is more convenience, economical and quicker to cook than freshly riced cauliflower. If you use fresh cauliflower, it will take a few more minutes (additional instruction below).
I also found these all-natural, sugar-free and grass-fed hot dogs at my local whole foods. Pre-cooked hot dogs are a quick addition to the cauliflower fried rice.
With the use of frozen cauliflower rice and pre-cooked franks, this cauliflower fried rice recipe takes less than 20 minutes to make.
Keto, Paleo and Whole 30 Ingredients
All ingredients in this cauliflower fried rice are keto, paleo, whole 30 compliant.
- cauliflower rice
- all-natural sugar-free hot dogs
- eggs
- green onions
- fish sauce
- bacon grease or ghee
- salt and pepper
- water or broth (optional)
How to Make Cauliflower Fried Rice /w Hot Dog and Eggs
The following images illustrate the steps to make this cauliflower fried rice. I have also included cooking tips below.
- Add cauliflower rice, fish sauce and cut up hotdogs into a frying pan, mix them up. Heat up the pan on high heat for 1-2 minutes until water in the cauliflower starts to evaporate, then cover the pan with a lid. Steam the cauliflower rice on medium heat until tender. Steaming the 3 ingredients together allows the salt in the fish sauce and hot dogs to infuse into the cauliflower rice. Once cooked, remove the cauliflower rice from the pan.
- Heat up bacon grease or ghee in the frying pan. I prefer using leftover bacon grease, because it gives a lot of flavour. Add chopped up green onions into the hot oil. Fry the onion on medium heat for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Crack 2 whole eggs into the frying pan. Don’t mix the eggs before adding into the pan. This way we can achieve the marbled white-and-yellow colour for the eggs.
- Scrambled the eggs with the green onions, until the eggs are half cooked.
- Add the cauliflower rice and hot dogs back into the frying pan. Stir the eggs and cauliflower rice together. Turn off heat when the eggs are completely cooked.
How to Rice Cauliflower
I use previously frozen cauliflower rice from a package. If you don’t have pre-riced cauliflower, it’s easy to make your own. Simply pulse the cauliflower florets in a food processor, until achieving the rice size.
How to Cook Fresh vs. Frozen Cauli-Rice
I find previously frozen cauliflower rice contain more moisture than fresh cauliflower rice. There is no need to add water when steaming previously frozen cauliflower rice. But you may need to add a few tbsp of water or broth when steaming fresh cauliflower rice.
Previously frozen cauliflower rice is also softer. It takes about 5 minutes to steam thawed cauliflower rice. It takes 6 to 8 minutes to steam fresh cauliflower rice to achieve the same tenderness.

super easy recipe and one kids would like!
I love how few (and basic) ingredients this has! What a great weeknight dinner.
Man, I wish we had all-natural hot dogs here! Here in Germany, I swear they’re all trash. :/ So I think I’ll use some steak instead. Yum!
Sliced hots dogs in the fried cauliflower rice is a great idea & maybe a sliced sausage could work as well?
Such an easy and paleo friendly weekly dinner!
Love adding hot dogs to fried rice as well! So delicious.
